What an absolutely beautiful fish.

From Galactic Interactions: Gravity as the curvature of spacetime— it’s such a simple, elegant, beautiful concept that it almost pains me to think that efforts to unify gravity with quantum mechanics may result in our learning that General Relativity is just the effective limit of a deeper theory (much as Newton’s gravity is an effective limit of GR).

RDF and microformats rumble: post here, then comment, with follow up and referee. Why does all technology have to break along adversarial lines in weblogging? Probably needs more women.

Speaking of…Dori Smith: This is about claims that I “simply don’t exist.” This is about claims Shelley doesn’t exist. This is about claims that people like Molly don’t exist — ’cause nobody, but nobody could know that we exist, talk to any of us for five minutes, and still say that. Being as we three are the shy and retiring type.

Oop! Oop! No more of that. This year’s Diversity Steeple Chase and companion, Wondering where are the broads is over. Stay tuned, next year: same time, different channel.

Twelve-year-old Deamonte Driver died of a toothache Sunday. Let’s spend more time on congressional resolutions on Iraq that don’t do anything–and more billions in Iraq so kids like Deamonte can die.

It’s spring in California. Speaking of which, we’re expecting our first spring storm tonight or tomorrow, if it doesn’t float north of us.

Come midnight, it will surely sound like spring.

Hi Shelley, thanks for the linkage – the fish is far nicer than tech arguments. Tantek’s since added a conciliatory response to that thread. In it he mentions “aggressive collaboration” – hmm, what were you saying about women..?

It’s lovely to read you again, by the way. I’d had MTW subbed on my work machine, but I had trouble with the feeds and lost track. Now I’ll be able to resub Bb and read it at work, as nature intended.

I started a third blog myself a few months ago, and am currently thinking about merging all three into one – nothing like running multiple blogs to make a single blog look attractive. One of these days…

Oh my goodness Danny. Isn’t “aggressive collaboration” an oxymoron?

There is more than the hint of arrogance about microformats lately. Yes, I know the same can be said for the early years of RDF, too, though I think it’s much better now. Regardless, there’s enough room for it all and no harm to anyone.

As for Mr. Tantek, I must admit that he is not in my best graces at the moment.

Phil, it is too confusing to have too many weblogs. I figured people can just ignore what doesn’t interest them. Good to see hear your voice!

Shelley, I’m glad you were okay with my reference to you. I didn’t want to put words in your mouth, but I figured that it was safe to say you’d have an opinion or three on the concept that “women developers… simply don’t exist.”

Nice fish, but what the heck is a BMP image doing on the web? What’s wrong with people? :-)
