Different Viewpoints
I read with respect Sargeant Stryker's eloquent and extremely well thought out discussion about Doc Searl's comment killing does not justify killing (a misrepresentation of Hanan Cohen's Death does not justify death).
I may not agree with Stryker's analysis and interpretation, but I can respect the effort and the interest as well as the careful consideration he gave.

Maybe it's a valiant effort at making his point, but I think he's totally wrong. If my family, my neighborhood, my town, my state, my country were attacked, I would fight to protect the people I know and love from being killed. I might even fight to protect those I don't know or love. But in the current war, where the two sides continue to kill each other for land, for cultural supremacy, for religious beliefs that are really very similar, it does behoove those on the planet with some influence and power to find a way to get the two thug leaders to stop murdering each other's people. Attack - defend - attack - defend - attack - defend. Testosterone gone amuck. It's kind of ridiculously self-defeating. And I posted this as a comment on the Sargeant's site as well.
I'm with you on this one Elaine. Since I have nothing succinct to add to this (I can rarely be succinct!), I'll be blogging along these lines.
Elaine: You are completely wrong.
The two sides are not killing each other for land (Arafat rejected an offer for 97% of his land plus 3% taken off Israel), for cultural supremacy, or for religious beliefs.
The Palestinians are killing Israelis for their honor -- so that it'll look as if they defeated Israel once before they agreed for a peach treaty.
The Israelis are killing Palestinians to live -- they believe the Palestinians will not stop this war otherwise.
