New Blogrolling Categories
Rather than go with a single list of people in a blogroll, I grouped my virtual neighbors according to specific categories. I think this makes the whole process MUCH MORE INTERESTING.
<update>
I pulled the categories.

Screw the Australian Delegation, I wanna be with the Really Scary Smart People.
Really? The whole delegation? I don't know, seems like a lot of work....
You have now been moved, oh most demanding one.
Sigh. Just can't please them Aussies.
I'm not sure how I got in the artists group being that my artwork is such a small part of my site but part of me is complimented all the same. It's a brave act to catagorize links that way. Too brave for me :)
Ah, but all my categories are 'good'. And I'll move folks if they REALLY want me to.
Gee, BB, even if you don't bring the categories back, would you mind telling us what they were? The ones cited are highly amusing.
I always miss the good bits... *pout*
This started as an attempt to have fun and ended up offending people. I'd rather not repeat the categories. Sorry.
What the hey Dorothea, I'll list the categories - what I remember:
Women who kick butt
The Artists
The Huggables
Really Scary Smart People
Unique
The Pros
Tech and all that
Life Twisters
I think there was a 'Miraculous Fowl' category too, wasn't there?
see what i mean about brave now?
Sheesh! I blink and I miss everything! What category did I fall into :-) Curious Kats want to know!
Well I think there was an all encompassing category that ment more then all the sub categories.....
Shelley's Blogroll.
So it's all ok :)
Although that's why I avoid much more further subdivision on my site too.
Oooh. I'd hate to think I wasn't Huggable, but I'd like to be Unique, too. Shelley has no particular reason to think me an Artist. I don't especially Kick Butt (oh, and I'm male). I am a Pro, but probably not in the way Shelley meant. Life Twister? I reckon that applies, but couldn't one be a Huggable Life Twister? Or Uniquely Life Twisted?
Exactly why I arrange my blogroll as I do ... in order of number of letters, to make a pretty picture.
Your links are a very personal thing, others shouldn't have any influence how you arrange them.
I always like seeing how people link to me ... alphabetically I can be 'absolute blog' or 'wordwhores' at the extreme, or Sharon O places me about in the middle if you're anal enough to alphabetize. (yeah, and by numbers of letters isn't anal?? HA!)
I don't take it personally, though, I'm glad for a link, now matter the context....if I did take it personally, I think I'd really have to get a life.
Sorry, BB, didn't mean to recreate a ruckus.
There's an interesting blog lurking in the experience, though, one AKMA might want to take a stab at. However much we try, we have limited control over how we are perceived by others. Our identities, if you will, are as dependent on the interpretation of others as is our writing on our readers.
Perhaps it is not surprising, then, that BB's genial attempt to lend us personality led to difficulties. How many of us are entirely comfortable with the idea that our identities are not under our sole control?
Dorothea, you didn't cause a ruckus. And I think you have made several excellent points. I am going to write a follow-up weblog on this.
(AKMA, if you're _really_ curious about where I had you, you'll have to email...)
Actually, I'm rather curious to see where you would all put yourselves. That's an eye opener for me.
I was pretty happy with my category. I would've preferred it said "Women Who Kick Ass," but that's just me. Or maybe, "Women Who Stomp a Fucking Mudhole," but again, that's just me. Smooch, Shelley.
Where would I put myself among those? "Huggable" sounds pathetically like I'm out there seeking affection, though my family is plenty affectionate right here. "Artist," in a way, because I try to make my daily use of words a kind of art--though we've seen that blow up. I'm Low Tech, a Man Who Refuses To Kick Butt Even When Mike Sanders Tries To Tease Him Into It, not in the least Australian.
I guess "Unique" is pretty safe. Probably just as well, too.
