LifeFireflies

I arrived in St. Louis last night at dusk to be met with an apartment building surrounded by fireflies. That's something you won't see in San Francisco, and most other places that don't have higher humidity.

One can suffer higher temperature and humidity for a nightly show of fireflies.

Still tired from trip today, though the drive yesterday was pleasant - just too long. Tried to get my DSL setup this afternoon only to find that Earthlink has a major DSL failure in the area. Perhaps the thunderstorm earlier in the day.

All I've wanted to do today is sleep, and since I can't post and sleep at the same time, guess I'll keep this post short. Tomorrow hopefully both the DSL and I will be charged up and ready to go.

My favorite time of day to be out in the garden -- at dusk -- it's something I hadn't experienced before moving here.

Hope you're sleeping well.

I love those nights around here too. Someone once told me when they moved from Philly it was one of the things he missed most.

Silly me, I didn't realize you were *moving* here! Wise choice, I must say. If you need help finding anything, need recommendations, etc etc, please let me know!

when I lived in Vermont we used to get fireflies at dusk. Beautiful. The ones in St. Lou seem to be neon green, and larger. So very pretty. And I love t-storms so that's nice as well.

Rev, thanks! First thing I'm doing is signing up at Ben's St. Louis webloggers page. Then onwards from there.

Hopefully my St. Lou DSL will become active today.

I understand that the boy fireflies fly high, while the girls fly low. At least, that's how it is for some species of fireflies in NA.
